Sam Milby was in high spirits as he renewed his contract with ABS-CBN in the presence of the network’s head honchos, which included Charo Santos-Concio, Malou Santos, Johnny Manahan, and Mariole Alberto last Wednesday night, February 4. Apart from his movie with Bea Alonzo (And I Love You So) and his upcoming teleserye with Angel Locsin (Only You), the actor kept mum about the details of his contract since there have been a lot of issues concerning network-switching among celebrities in the past few months. “I was advised not to share kung gaano katagal [yung contract] But what’s really nice about this is it’s assured work and that’s what I am happy about. Ibig sabihin may tiwala sila [ABS-CBN] sa akin,” he told ABS-CBN.com.
People have been used to seeing Sam with ex-girlfriend Anne Curtis in most of his projects (Dyosa, Maging Sino Ka Man 1 and 2), but so far there’s nothing lined up for the two of them. “Yeah, for now wala kaming project together at wala pang nagsabi sa akin kung anong susunod na project na gagawin namin. In the meantime, I’ll be working with Angel and Diet (Ocampo) for the soap, then with Bea para sa movie, and Toni Gonzaga para sa album naming entitled Love Duets,” he shared.
When asked if he feels sad that he will no longer see Anne as often as he used to, Sam avoided answering the question altogether and simply maintained that working with other leading ladies would be good for his career. “I’ve always said this: I think it helps you if you’re able to work with many people. Kasi it builds your reputation if you’re known for working with different people. I believe it helps your career and at the same time you grow individually as an actor,” he explained.
Apparently, Sam is more cautious now when it comes to his private life what with all the issues surrounding his relationship with Anne before and after their breakup. Whether or not they still communicate with each other these days has yet to be known. Even Showbiz News Ngayon’s report that he is still keeping some of his pictures with Anne on his cellphone seems to be no big deal to him. “Actually that was a long time ago. Was that the one with Lifehouse? Ahh… Well Lifehouse is my favorite band. Basta I’ve moved on and I am happy sa lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon. I feel very blessed and very excited,” he remarked.
Nevertheless, Sam is glad to know that a lot of people are still solid fans of his team-up with Anne as seen during a recent poll on ABS-CBN.com. “I’ll make a comment dun sa mga taong bumoto kay Anne as the best leading lady for me. Gusto ko lang magpasalamat sa lahat ng sumuporta sa aming dalawa kasi madami rin naman kaming projects dati. Very thankful kami sa suporta na ibinigay ng tao. So wala lang, yun lang,” he stated.
